theW+ Design: The Artling Brings Asian Design Collectibles Direct To Market / Hong Kong
This month Singapore based, The Artling (@theartling) - an art consultancy and online gallery- made an Autumn splash in Hong Kong with a pop up "Collectible Design" Exhibition at the Pun+Projects (@pun_projects) space. Pun+Projects- an initiative by Yangon and Hong Kong based entrepreneural Creative Ivan Pun, shares the gallery with MacNamara Art Projects at the buzzy and creative Wong Chuk Hang Industrial District- home to many art galleries, Fashion studios, creative agencies, and furniture showrooms.
This show is the first Initiative by The Artling to present their Design offerings within a physical space for the Hong Kong market. Since 2013, The Artling has made a strong effort to make a name with their direct-to-customer portal for Asian Contemporary Art, and now that the wheels are greased- they've expanded to present a curated selection of design products made by a pool of independent and emerging Asian talent.
My friend Yifawn, publisher of Orientations magazine finds a friend- a mirror with paddle handcrafted in Thailand.
On exhibit (and sold direct on the gallery floor)- are beautiful works from India's Claymen, Taiwan's Pile Up Life, Thailand's FabuLess, Korea's Ok Kim, and our very own Lim + Lu - plus a few special pieces from the Pun+Projects own Myanmar handcrafted brand, Paribawga (@paribawgafurniture).
My favorite piece... Marble bookends by FabuLess.
Show ends October 28th.
